Jia Baoyu Sees Xue Baochai
It’s kind of odd that it’s taken 8 chapters for this, but here we are. We finally see Xue Baochai from Jia Baoyu’s perspective for the first time. This is a beautiful poetic description of Xue Baochai’s personality, but not of her appearance. I’ll have a bit more to say in tomorrow’s commentary post, and this poetic look at her will continue in the next translation post as well.
