Congrats on your new job, Daniel; I heard you mention that you are working at an auction house, but I didn't know it specialized in Chinese artifacts. That is very cool. I had a History of Ancient China course the second semester of my freshman year at Pitt, and prior to following this blog, that was the only academic exposure I had to Chinese history and culture. I was most fascinated by ancient Chinese writing, but unfortunately for me not fascinated enough to pursue the subject any further. I got into other ancient (western) cultures, but the fascination I had with that one semester of Chinese history never fully left me.
