The Change In Tone
As I noted yesterday, the poem about the “wolf from Mount Zhong” is unusual.
It’s unusual because it’s actually a description of the husband of the girl in question, not of the girl herself.
Now, the interesting thing is that we can see the same thing in the corresponding poem that Jia Baoyu read in the book of the fates of the 12 Beauties of Jinling earlier:
And, yes, this means that the songs and the poems go together.
