The Family School
We saw in yesterday’s translation post that Jia Baoyu and Qin Zhong began attending school together:
如今秦寶二人來了，一一的都互相拜見過，讀起書來。
Now that Qin Zhong and Jia Baoyu had arrived and everybody had greeted each other, they started studying.
However - this “private school” (義學, probably better translated as “charitable school”) was a bit different than the sort of school you and I are used to.
