The Metaphysics Of Grief
As we saw yesterday, Jia Baoyu had a violent physical reaction to news of the sudden death of Qin Keqing:
如今從夢中聽見說秦氏死了，連忙翻身爬起來，只覺心中似戳了一刀的，不覺的「哇」的一聲，直噴出一口血來。
On this particular night, Baoyu was in the middle of a dream when he heard somebody say that Qin Keqing had died. Baoyu worke up and sat up at once. He felt like someboy had stabbed him with a knife in his heart. “Wow,” he exclaimed, unable to stop himself – and he suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood.
That’s a pretty extreme reaction to hearing about somebodys death, right? It seems extreme even when you consider the unusually close relationship Jia Baoyu had with Qin Keqing.
