Very good read. Just one curiosity: have you watched the original Tv series of the Red Chamber and what do you think of its ending? Do you think the TV ending would have been more appropriate, given the tragic nature of the ending?
I've got copies of a few of the TV series, including the 1987 one. I haven't watched it all the way through yet, though - but I'm working on it...
