Lin Daiyu encounters Wang Xifeng for the first time today. Traditionally, Xue Baochai (who we’ll meet in a few chapters) is thought of as the foil to Lin Daiyu. However, as we’ll discover tomorrow, Wang Xifeng’s aggressive personality and masculine bearing stand sharply in contrast to Lin Daiyu’s careful femininity.
