I mentioned yesterday that there was something odd about the way the Jia family hierarchy works.
You probably have figured out by now that Wang Xifeng is actually the most powerful character in Dream of the Red Chamber. Because she understands and controls the family finances, she has the ability to make things happen that other characters simply do not.
However, it’s still fascinating to see how she actually fits into the hierarchical structure of the family.
