Why Jia Baoyu Visited Hua Xiren
Yesterday’s translation post probably seems a bit odd to you. If it doesn’t seem strange, congratulations, because it certainly seemed strange to me.
Jia Baoyu visits Hua Xiren on the spur of the moment. He arrives at her family’s small house, surprises everybody, has a few things to eat, lets the other girls look at his jade, and then disappears.
So why is this section even in the book?
